Official Launch: ZEISS DuraVision Gold UV Coating - Now Available

We recently attended the official launch of ZEISS DuraVision Gold UV and SmartLife Individual 3 at ZEISS Singapore HQ — and had the chance to get an inside look at their lab and latest innovations.
The new Duravision Gold UV lens coating is the latest (and most premium) addition to ZEISS’s DuraVision family, and it’s designed to make everyday vision feel clearer, cleaner, and more effortless.
If you’ve ever found yourself constantly wiping fingerprints or battling dust and smudges on your lenses — this new coating was made with people like you in mind.
So what makes it different?
ZEISS DuraVision Gold UV comes with something called CleanGuard™ technology — a new coating structure that repels water, oil, and dust. And the result? Lenses that are much easier to keep clean, with smudges that wipe away more quickly (ZEISS says up to three times faster compared to their previous coatings). It’s also anti-static, so dust and tiny particles don’t cling to the lens surface as easily.
On top of that, this coating reduces reflections in low-light conditions — think car headlights at night, office lighting, or even taking photos with flash. You’ll notice fewer distracting glare spots and more comfortable vision in those tricky lighting environments.
Looks as good as it performs
DuraVision Gold UV has a subtle golden hue that gives it a premium, slightly warm tone. It’s not loud or flashy — just a light touch that can actually complement your skin tone and hair colour in a flattering way, especially in photos.
We tested it in person at the launch, including using a permanent marker to demonstrate how easily the coating repels ink and moisture. The difference in how water rolls off compared to a standard lens is pretty noticeable.
For the detail-oriented
If you’re someone who likes knowing what’s going on under the hood, here’s a bit more about the technology. The CleanGuard™ layer increases the contact angle of water droplets, meaning they bead up and roll off more easily.
The coating is also abrasion-resistant thanks to a durable hard coat layer, helping lenses resist micro-scratches from daily use — like shirt cuffs, mask straps or sandy environments.
The golden colour isn’t just aesthetic — it’s the result of a finely tuned anti-reflective stack that controls how light reflects across the lens surface. ZEISS engineers have balanced the layers to keep reflections low while producing that warm, elegant finish.
